It seems like the “ex-chef from a well-known restaurant turned hawker” story is becoming a cliche of its own. However, you won’t hear any complaints from me, a foodie, as it only means the food and service will be of a certain standard. Buddies Chef Grill is no exception to that rule. It opened its newest restaurant along Upper Changi Road on 13 Oct 2022 serving western food.

Buddies Chef Grill was started by two ex-chefs who worked at COLLIN’S. They had this idea of creating a hub where they both could showcase their passion for cooking and create their own dishes without any restraints.

So in 2019 amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, they opened their first hawker stall at Bukit Merah. Then, they expanded by opening another hawker stall at Lau Pa Sat. The idea of opening a restaurant came about when regular customers recommended them to do so, as the food is that good.

The highlights of their menu are their steaks and chicken chops, which are all grilled over charcoal. Grilled Chicken Chop (S$12.90++) is served with garlic butter vegetables and onion rosti (fried grated potatoes).

It has two steak options: Grilled New Zealand Premium Ribeye (S$23.90++) and Grilled New Zealand Premium Sirloin (S$20.90++), both of which are served with garlic butter and potato salad.

Regardless of whether you like ex-chef stories or not, Buddies Chef Grill is sure to satisfy your western needs!
