If you’ve only ever had the classic version of pani puri, Chutneys & Chai in JB might just surprise you. While the restaurant serves a wide selection of authentic Indian fare, it’s their creative take on the beloved street snack that really stands out.

Beyond the traditional pani puri, you’ll also find flavours like Mango Pani Puri, Cheese Pani Puri, and even Lotus Biscoff Chocolate Pani Puri for something a little different.

The Mango Pani Puri is one of the more unique picks, featuring the restaurant’s own house-made mango chutney tucked inside each crispy shell for a sweet, tangy twist that’s quite unlike the usual version.

If you’re curious to try it yourself, it’s available at both their Masai and Tampoi outlets.

Of course, there’s plenty more on the menu if you’re after a full meal. Their selection of dum biryanis is worth checking out, including the Mutton Dum Biryani (RM26.90) with fragrant claypot rice slow-cooked alongside flavourful mutton masala, and the Madras Biryani (RM22.90) topped with tender boneless Chicken 65.

There are also lighter options like the Home Style Vegetable Biryani (RM16.90), served with pineapple pachadi chutney, as well as the Home Style Egg Biryani (RM14.90).

No Indian meal feels complete without a comforting cup of chai, and Chutneys & Chai offers several variations to choose from. Sip on the soothing Ginger Chai (RM7.50), fragrant Masala Chai (RM8.90), aromatic Rajasthani Chai (RM9.90), or keep things simple with a classic Black Chai (RM4.90).

If you’re in the mood for something lighter, the Chettinad Chicken Dosai (RM17) pairs a crispy dosai with a generously seasoned chicken filling. You can also round off your meal with classic Indian snacks like Aloo Tikki (RM9.90), Vadai (RM9.90), or crispy Punjabi Samosa (RM10.90).
