After a series of our Cloud Whisky Experiences, now it’s time for the sake aficionados amongst you to shine.
For our final June event at 7pm on 27 June 2020, SethLui.com brings you the Cloud Sake Pairing Experience, together with our official events partners, Inter Rice Asia and Chimichanga.
Grab your sake glasses, and save some room in your tummy, because we’ll be sampling three sake labels (80ml each) together with three Mexican must-try tapas dishes.
You know the drill—at S$58 for the Premium Sake Pairing Experience, and S$98 for the Premium DUO Sake Pairing Experience, you’ll get the sake samples and tapas delivered straight to your doorstep. Join in the virtual sake pairing experience with a dedicated Zoom link, and come with questions!

Start off the night with Kinkon Junmai Ginjo Edo Sake Oji, paired with crispy, tender Borracho Fish Tacos. Consisting of borracho “beer-battered” fish with pico de gallo, red cabbage and tongue-tingling sriracha mayonnaise, this taco dish is sure to whet your appetite.

The Junmai Ginjo is made with “Edo” yeast and rice grown entirely in Tokyo, with mature plum flavours and refreshing high acidity. A reimagining of the premium sake made during the Edo Period, it falls neatly between sweet and dry, and should be drunk chilled.

Next, raise a glass of Imayotsukasa Junmai as you sink your teeth into Chipotle Chicken Quesadilla. Spicy and smoky chicken chunks mingle with crunchy red onions and the quintessential cheese, all sandwiched within wheat tortilla.

Made with gohyaku-mangoku rice which is specially cultivated for smooth sake and natural spring water from Mt Suganatake in Niigata, this Junmai is best enjoyed warm. It’s rich, clean and dry, and goes well with food pairing.

The last sake of the night is the Senkin Modern Muku Junmai Daiginjo, to go with the Baby Ancho Beef Chimichanga. A truly hearty dish, the chimichanga comes with ancho-rubbed beef, Amarillo rice, cheese, and pico de gallo all wrapped in wheat tortilla and fried till golden brown.

It’s perfect with the intense aroma of ripe peaches and pears from the Junmai Daiginjo. With a luscious texture and a long finish, this juicy, sweet sake ends off the tasting nicely.
And don’t forget Cinnamon Churros to end your meal on a sweet note. Dip them in chocolate sauce, and it’s all bueno.
Reserve a spot for yourself, or share the experience with a friend. It’s up to you, but one thing’s for sure—spaces are limited, so don’t miss out!
