There’s a new bakery in the CBD to satisfy your work-day cupcake cravings. CurlyLocks is a former home-based business specialising in cupcakes that opened their physical store on 15 August 2022 along Robinson Road.
CurlyLocks is owned and operated by two sisters, and their cupcakes contain no pork, lard, alcohol or gelatine.

A single cupcake costs S$5.50, while a box of four cupcakes comes in at S$21. If you’re feeling extra peckish, try a box of six for S$30, or feed the whole family with a box of 12 cupcakes for S$58.

CurlyLocks offers seven tantalising cupcake flavours, like Blueberry Cheesecake, made with a buttery biscuit base, lemon zest vanilla cake, blueberry goo filling and cream cheese frosting, while Red Velvet contains a scarlet-coloured chocolate cake base and cream cheese frosting.
I am most interested in their White Chocolate Matcha cupcake, which comes with a matcha cake base, white chocolate buttercream frosting and a white chocolate matcha drizzle.
Cookie lovers can look forward to trying their Cookies & Cream cupcake, consisting of an oreo chocolate cake base, crushed oreo buttercream frosting and oreo toppings, and their Biscoff cupcake, which comes with a buttery biscuit base, caramelised cake, biscoff spread filling, Swiss meringue buttercream, and a topping of biscoff spread and biscoff cookies.

A simpler option would be CurlyLocks’ Nutella cupcake, made with hazelnut chocolate cake, nutella buttercream and hazelnut topping. Their Peanut Butter cupcake is another classic flavour to try, containing a chocolate cake base, peanut butter filling, peanut butter buttercream frosting and topped with a peanut butter cup.
It’s certainly exciting to see more home-based businesses move into physical spaces!
