I remember writing an article about Din Tai Fung‘s magnificent, XL-sized Tang Bao not too long ago, and now, the popular dim sum restaurant just launched Steamed Chocolate Nutty Ginger Lava Buns. This limited-edition Christmas special is sure to get us all in a jolly good mood as we dig into a bao-ntiful festive treat.

That pun was my Editor’s. She’s really funny*.

These Steamed Chocolate Nutty Ginger Lava Buns will retail at S$2 each, and contains ginger-infused chocolate lava filling that boasts of a sweet and subtly spicy aftertaste. They are also topped with chopped roasted peanuts for that extra crunch and contrast.

I’m still unsure how I feel about these Steamed Chocolate Nutty Ginger Lava Buns; we already have gingerbread for Christmas, and now we’re getting… ginger-bao? Whatever your feelings are towards ginger-anything, we’ve all got to agree that this sounds wacky enough to give a shot. No more milk and cookies for Santa in 2021—we’re feeding him Din Tai Fung buns this year!

If you want to celebrate Christmas the Asian style, I’m sure a hearty feast at Din Tai Fung will make sure everyone leaves with their stomachs full and their hearts happy. This promotion will run from 22 November until 31 December 2021.
