Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) is renowned for its mouthwatering fried chicken. Regrettably, one customer had a less appetising experience when they discovered a cluster of fly eggs within their KFC chicken.
User lypotatoe took to the Malaysian subreddit (r/Malaysia) to express their dismay over a shocking revelation. According to their post, lypotatoe had purchased a KFC snack plate from the Petronas Alam Damai branch on 4 Oct 2023.
As they were halfway through their meal, the customer made a disturbing discovery— a cluster of fly eggs within their KFC chicken. This revelation left them deeply repulsed, and they described feeling traumatised and on the verge of vomiting upon seeing the eggs.
“Yesterday, 04 Oct, ordered take away from KFC Petronas Alam Damai and discovered FLY EGGS inside the chicken halfway eating!!! Extremely disgusting, KFC need to fix this, FAST. This is food SAFETY and it’s totally unacceptable!!!”, lypotatoe posted.

The Reddit user lodged a complaint with KFC concerning the incident, but they received only an apologetic call from KFC a day later. Many other Reddit users encouraged lypotatoe to report the issue directly to the Ministry of Health (MOH), asserting that complaining to KFC would be futile.
A certain user reported experiencing food poisoning as a result of consuming undercooked KFC chicken. They also disclosed that, as a precautionary measure, they would carefully inspect and tear the meat of any fried chicken they received to ensure it was thoroughly cooked.
Lypotatoe provided an update a few days later, revealing that they had received a response from the MOH regarding their complaint. MOH confirmed they would initiate an investigation into the issue. Additionally, lypotatoe demanded compensation from KFC, given their ordeal and illness resulting from the repulsive chicken.
This marks yet another occurrence of subpar food quality and safety concerns related to KFC. Let’s hope that such incidents do not recur in the future.
