In a Facebook post published on 6 Sep 2022 in the Can Eat! Hawker Food group, netizens shared that the well-liked prawn noodle stall will close after nearly a year of service. Reasons for the closure were unclear, with some speculating it to be rising rental costs.

Several reviews commended Good Old Taste Prawn Noodle for one of the most important aspects of a good prawn noodle dish— its broth, which is said to deliver an umami flavour that doesn’t leave you thirsty. This can only achieved by continuously boiling prawn heads and pork bones, with minimal MSG or artificial flavouring added.

Not to mention, Good Old Taste Prawn Noodle’s dishes are priced affordably, with the cheapest option being its Prawn Noodles (S$4). The Signature Seafood Prawn Noodle comes with a generous amount of fresh prawns, lalas, scallops and crispy pork lard and cost only S$5.80. You can even pick from a wide range of noodles from mee pok to mee kia

Dry versions for all menu items are also available, and they are served with chilli sauce.

Good Old Taste Prawn Noodle also has unique menu items that you wouldn’t normally associate with prawn noodles, such as its Pig Tail Noodle (S$5), which comes with collagen-rich sliced pig tails.

The classic Prawn Noodle also comes with generous amounts of pork slices. Those who prefer a meatier bite can opt for the Pork Ribs Noodle (S$5) which is served with tender and succulent pork ribs.

Sadly, even with its generous amount of ingredients and affordability, it doesn’t change the fact that Good Old Taste Prawn Noodle joins the ever-increasing list of beloved hawkers that are closing down. Be sure to give it one last try before it closes at the end of this month!
