“Indulge in City Hall”
Grand Park of Park Hotel Group is a luxury hotel brand designed for discerning business and leisure travelers. Conveniently located in City Hall just minutes away from the MRT, Grand Park City Hall is an ideal hotel stay in a central part of Singapore near many attractions.
This time, I’m reviewing some of the room and facilities, as well as to showing you what you can enjoy at Grand Park City Hall.
The Lobby
Upon entering, you will see a spacious, high ceiling lobby that leads to the various restaurants and bars in Grand Park including Park Palace. The integration of century-old shophouses with modern architectural style has even earned them the prestigious Architectural Heritage award.
Walls are adorned with classy artworks as well as static installations that… are far too abstract for me to interpret. The bottom canvas is a city, I get that, but the art installation above looks like… slugs crawling away. Either way, I’m not the authority you should listen to on this.
Crystal Club
I had the privilege of enjoying the service bestowed upon Crystal Club room guests, located on the top floors of Grand Park City Hall. Check-in and check out can be done fuss free and exclusively at the Crystal Club reception, making you truly feel like a VIP. The friendly staff will assist you readily for any needs.
We’ll get back to the Crystal Club in a bit, but let’s hit the rooms!
Club Superior Room
A cooling and executive-like room, there are highlights of gold and teal amongst the furbishing with that aura of royalty. Carpeted floors mean you don’t wake up to freezing cold tiles.
There’s a bath tub as well in the toilet, but everything else is pretty standard marble tiled.
One of the things that really stood out at my room stay was access to this experimental Handy Device. Each room will basically come with this smart phone, which serves as a local guide, giving you free 3G/Wifi and unlimited local+international calls. You can just carry this around the hotel or even when you travel out. Everything else was working great, but I couldn’t get the SMS service to send a message though.
Grand Park City Hall is still testing this new service technology out, but I think there is great potential if they work out the kinks. If they allow whatsapp messaging to be installed, would have been a perfect replacement for my phone.
Back to The Club
As a club guest, you get free anytime access to the Crystal Club Lounge (closes at 11pm), which features a less crowded and comfy setting perfect to relax or do more work. 2 kinds of people at a staycation.
Usage of computer work station, printers and 1 hour rent of the club boardroom per room per night is available to each Crystal Clubber.
Some lights snacks like scones, coffee and tea can be found throughout the day. Buffet breakfast is also at the Crystal club from 6.30am to 10.30am daily.
From 5.30pm to 6pm, that’s where the Crystal Club lounge really starts to shine. Complimentary tasty hors d’oeuvres like crab tarts, chicken wings and cake pastries make an appearance.
And guess what, alcohol is also served including Prosecco, wine, house pours and The alcoholic in me was exuberant, and just perfect for pre-dinner drinks.
Gym + Swimming Pool
Some of the standard facilities you can find here. The gym is pretty huge though, and even has personal trainers to guide you if needed.
The Bar at Coleman
At the lobby floor resides The Bar at Coleman for those who want a more lively atmosphere rather than drink at the Crystal Club lounge. There is an amazing live jazz duo that perform here as well, while cocktails start being made 5pm onwards.
For the soccer The Bar screens World cup on a huge projection screen so you can watch with the other international guests and scream for your favorite teams together.
Top: Snowball, Whiskey Sour. The cocktails here were unexpectedly good I’ve to say. A good mix that blends the alcohol and still allows a certain thick flavour to show. And its only when the alcohol starts to hit you then you know there is indeed alcohol within. Kudos to the bartender.
Breakfast Buffet at Indulge at Park
I never miss the breakfast buffet of any hotel I stay at; For Grand Park City Hall, you get to enjoy morning delights from Indulge at Park. The spread is much larger than the Club lounge breakfast and I would recommend walking that bit more to eat here instead of lazing on the same club floor.
You can get the chef to cook you an omelette, and even request for an egg white only omelette.
A mix of Chinese, Japanese, Western and European breakfast items, there is a bit for everyone here. Or just become an international breakfast eater like myself.
S.p.a at Park
For the tired, travel-weary guests, indulge in more self-pampering at s.p.a that’s connected to the hotel lobby.
I thoroughly enjoyed the full body massage, performed by extremely experienced masseurs who definitely have that strong finger pressure I like. What’s a massage without some The 60 minute massage with choices like Deep Tissue, Jetlag eliminator, Tui Na, cost $128.
Enjoy some spicy Ginger tea before and after you begin the session also to get the blood circulating.
A plethora of swanky shopping malls, entertainment venues and historic sites surround Grand Park City Hall hotel, really highlighting their locational advantage. The hotel service is also amazingly intimate, and as a club guest, almost everyone knows your name making it feel like home.
Definitely a great Singapore staycation spot for locals, and a highly accessible cosy choice for business travelers.
Expected Damage: From $248 per night
