With Christmas just around the corner, I’m sure most of us are getting into the festive spirit. If you’re at Orchard shopping your socks off, why not visit the Great Christmas Village 2022? It’s back after a 2-year absence, and is being held at Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza from 8 Dec 2022 to 2 Jan 2023.
We paid a visit today, and our main objective was to check out the various food and drink options available here.
The first stall that caught my eye was Dochi Dochi, one of my fave mini mochi donut establishment in Joo Chiat. Their scaled-down offerings over here features their Sweet (S$10) flavours like Maple Osmanthus and Biscoff-Crunch.
Specially for Great Christmas Village 2022, they’ve created Dochi W/ Gelato (S$13) and Banana Boat (S$16).

We tried the Banana Boat which came with 6 mini donuts, 2 scoops of gelato (we chose salted caramel and strawberry cheesecake), and 2 dochi bananas topped with wafers.
Customers are also allowed to choose what toppings they want for their gelato for free. We had Biscoff crumbs and a little Oreo snow.
The bananas were fried using the same batter as the donuts, which became a chewier version of a goreng pisang— the whole combination was heavenly!
There was a stall next door selling Takoyaki (S$3 for 3 balls) in flavours like octopus and prawn. They also had 3 variations of Okonomi-Yaki (Japanese Pizza): Crabstick (S$4), Chicken Ham (S$4) and Salmon (S$5).
Yaowarat Thai St Food has a variety of Thai style street food like Moo Ping (S$2 for 1, S$5.50 for 3), Grilled Squid with Roe (S$10 – S$20) and Sai Krok Isan Rice/Vermicelli Thai Sausage (S$2.50).
100% plant-based burger joint, Veganburg, has also setup a booth here. They have a burger set, gourmet fries and side dishes.
We tried the Creamy Garlic Fries (S$9.90 for regular). The plain-looking fries turned out to be addictively delicious! It had loads of garlicky flavour, and was coated in a glaze that was invisible to the naked eye.
Bring your little ones to check out the Uncle Ringo carnival section, which includes a mini pirate ship, 2 inflatable castles and other funfair games.
There are also a few retail booths here. Hao Food Sg sells various products related to the White Rabbit candy. I also spotted a thrift store selling vintage clothes.
There will also be various live performances mostly occurring between 7.30pm to 9pm on selected dates. This includes special choir performances, magic shows, and local rock band 53A.
Since the school holidays have already commenced, bring your family and littles ones to Great Christmas Village 2022. While you’re there, bask in the festive atmosphere and sing along to catchy Christmas tunes— I’ll see you there!
