First dibs: Greedy Greedy — A pop-up cafe selling tantalising Spiced Carrot Cake and Parmigiano Garlic Twist within Rapha Clubhouse

Greedy Greedy, at Tanjong Pagar, is a pop-up cafe that sells baked goods and coffee, amidst cycling-related clothing and accessories. They opened on 10 June 2022 and will run for four months, until 31 October 2022.

It is located within Rapha Clubhouse, a haven for cycling enthusiasts with their numerous cycling accessories and organised social rides.

Greedy Greedy - A picture of the exteriorRapha Clubhouse is quite unassuming and is located behind tall glass doors that I had unknowingly passed.

Thankfully, there was a signboard outside to signal where the Rapha Clubhouse is, so do look out for that as a landmark if you are as blur as I am.

When I entered, I saw a small counter inside which displayed all of Greedy Greedy’s goodies and the coffee, which is from PPP Coffee. I opted to try one of everything except for the Apricots & Nuts Bfast Bar, as I am not a fan of breakfast bars.

There was not much of a seating area, with only a few chairs scattered in front of the counter. This was probably because most of their customers were cyclists who would have these delicious baked goods on-the-go.

Greedy Greedy - A picture of their spiced carrot cakeThe Spiced Carrot Cake (S$5) is Greedy Greedy’s signature menu item. While it was a small square, it definitely packed a punch in terms of flavour. Each bite was moist and decadent, with rich cream cheese smeared in between layers of carrot cake with assorted spices like cinnamon. It was topped with gold flakes for that luxurious finish.

There were also pieces of walnut within the cake, which gave a nutty crunch to each bite. It had just the right amount of sweetness, and reminded me of Christmas (which is a good thing as I love Christmas!).

Greedy Greedy - A picture of their banana choc cakeThe Banana Choc Cake (S$6) may look unappetising due to my below-average camera skills, but it was extremely flavourful and dense. While it was less moist than the carrot cake, it was not dry at all. It was served warm, which caused the chocolate bits within it to be gooey, which was delicious.

The Spiced Carrot Cake and Banana Choc Cake are freshly made in-house every two to three days, depending on how fast the items sell.

Greedy Greedy - A picture of their parmegiono twistThe Parmigiano Garlic Twist (S$6) was simply delightful. Upon the first bite, it was crunchy and I could really taste the savouriness of the bread as the garlic flavours hit me (which thankfully wasn’t too overpowering). This will definitely be a favourite of garlic lovers.

The outside was nicely caramelised and slightly sweet. The Parmigiano Garlic Twist had a nice balance between sweet and savoury, and was definitely one of my favourite bakes from Greedy Greedy.

Greedy Greedy - A picture of their sea salt croissantThe Sea Salt Croissant (S$4.50) had a nice caramelised crust which gave a slight crunch when bitten into. Personally, I felt that it was a tad dry on the inside, and wasn’t as fluffy as I expected it to be. Nevertheless, the crust was buttered well and the saltiness of the sea salt was prominent. It was fragrant and a generous-sized croissant.

Overall, I really enjoyed the bakes here, and will definitely pop in again when I pass by Tanjong Pagar.

Pro-tip: Head in earlier as the bakes can be sold out later in the day! Greedy Greedy will only be here for four months, so do catch them before it’s too late.
