Drawing inspiration from grigliata, an Italian summer tradition of grilling over an open flame, Griglia Open Fire Italian Kitchen takes pride in presenting communal-style dishes on charming hand-crafted Mediterranean plates.

The restaurant opened in September 2021 at Craig Road, with a menu specially curated by Executive Chef Andrea De Paolo.

The updated menu introduces its latest addition: 8 finger-food snacks crafted to showcase the fundamental flavours of Italian cuisine, infused with an innovative twist.

The Marinated Olives (S$4), steeped in Martini vermouth and infused with aromatic Italian herbs, along with a touch of fiery Calabrese chilli, offer a delightful fusion of flavours. The unique combination of Smoked Eel (S$8) on a toasted, buttery brioche, is enhanced by a fresh, sharp kick from horseradish and the salty, tangy pop of trout roe.

griglia - bone marrow and pasta

The new menu also features unconventional elements like Bone Marrow (S$26), presented in its bone slab with a wonderfully crisp parmesan crust on top, and accompanied by a sliced radish and salsa verde crostini.

A beloved choice among guests is Griglia’s Homemade Pappardelle pasta (S$26); cloaked in a fragrant red sauce infused with Chianti, enriched with tender braised pork jowl, and adorned with crispy guanciale for a delightful texture. It delivered a savoury, aromatic symphony that lingered on the palate. A true culinary masterpiece!

griglia - steak

As the evening gained momentum, we were presented with a plethora of meat options from its Open Fire Grill section. The spotlight shines on an impressive 30 Days Dry Aged Porterhouse (Fiorentina) (S$158 for 2 persons): a Florentine style steak dry-aged for 30 days and tenderly cooked over the open fire grill.

This was simply divine. Juicy and flavourful, it’s a masterpiece, grilled to perfection for an unrivalled meaty indulgence.

New additions feature an enticing Suckling Pig Porchetta (S$98 for 2 persons), a beloved Italian classic with crackling skin, and a Spiced Coastal Spring Lamb Rack (S$88 for 2 persons), seasoned with a spice blend comprising 10 different spices, making it an ideal sharing plate for 2.

griglia -desserts

A warm Italian summer evening concludes perfectly with desserts shared around the table. For those who adore coffee (like me), the Cappuccinomisu (S$12) (my personal favourite of the evening) offers a thoughtfully crafted fusion of traditional tiramisu and the cherished Italian cappuccino; velvety buffalo mascarpone is infused with the richness of port wine and crowned with a frothy cappuccino foam. WOW!

Alternatively, you can choose a more invigorating finale with Capri in a cake (S$14), a naturally gluten-free, tender Italian confection enriched with an intense lemon curd, derived from a luscious limoncello and freshly squeezed Amalfi lemon juice. It’s elegantly paired with a cold, velvety vanilla gelato that rests daintily on the side; each bite brings a zesty delight.

Make your way to Griglia Open Fire Italian Kitchen for these delectable delights that will surely tantalise your taste buds.
