Newly opened Japanese-inspired cafe, Hello Arigato, takes over the space of now-defunct Gentle Roast Cafe at Upper Thomson Road. Opened by a group of friends with the intention of bringing quality Asian comfort food to the masses, expect to find simple but yummy looking grub made using locally sourced and freshly imported ingredients.
As they aptly put ‘best enjoyed with your close friends and family’.
Expect to find a range of sando (Japanese-style sandwiches) (from S$15), cruffins (S$7), donburi (from S$14), pasta (from S$16) and many more.
They also have an eclectic mix of appetisers. From their Hello Kombu Tater Tots (pictured above) (S$13)—crispy fried tater tots with shio kombu and nori mayo—to Musubi Shi (S$12)—breaded spam with spring onions, koshi hikari Japanese rice, twin-flavoured nori (teriyaki glaze & homemade mala)—and their Furi Fried Chicken (S$12)—homemade buttermilk fried chicken thigh with a garlic-honey glaze and furikake—it sure sounds like Japanese comfort food alright.
They also serve coffee, tea, organic drinks and mead—an alcoholic beverage created by fermenting honey with water, sometimes with various fruits, spices, grains, or hops. So, if you are looking for a decent place that serves relatively straightforward food, Hello Arigato is the place for you.
