After the release of their sweet potato milkshake, Don Don Donki at Orchard Central is out to impress again with their Cotton Candy Milk (S$2.80) drinks. These drinks can be found at the Japan mobile food corner in B2 of Orchard Central.

The Cotton Candy Milk (S$2.80) drinks are made completely out of Hokkaido milk and there were five  different flavours in different colours. For instance, their melon flavour is green and the strawberry flavour is pink.

All of these colourful concoctions come with a large swirl of cotton candy on top and below that, was ice-blended Hokkaido milk with the various flavours. The Green Melon-Flavoured Cotton Candy Milk (S$2.80) that I tried wasn’t as sweet as I thought it would be.

I was expecting it to be extremely sugary especially with the cotton candy on top as well as being packed with loads of artificial sweetener.

However, it leaned more towards a rich milky frappuccino and had a subtle juicy melon taste that only kicked in at the back of my throat. The cotton candy on top also had a mild melon taste, so if you are looking to make your drink sweeter, you could dissolve the cotton candy into the drink for a jolt of a sugar rush.

I also tried the Blue Soda-Flavoured Cotton Candy Milk (S$2.80) which, I felt, was trying to replicate a cream soda drink. Unlike the melon-flavoured one, the first taste that I got was how sweet it was followed by a very creamy blend.

The ice blend was extremely thick and velvety, tasting almost like a cup of melted vanilla ice cream. I could barely taste anything beyond the sugary and aromatic vanilla flavour and I felt that it was rather one dimensional and flat.

Overall these drinks, were merely novelty drinks that were gimmicky but would look nice on Instagram. I don’t think that the Cotton Candy Milk (S$2.80) would be something I would go back for again.

But by all means, if you desperately need a sugar boost or an Instagram post, then come get these sugary treats now!
