Hopheads (22)

Our favourite watering-holes come in a variety of shapes and sizes. From the small and quaint, to the flashy, loud and contemporary. Hopheads, is an eclectic mish-mash of things to do, eat and most importantly, drink. Hopheads is a space that pours solid pints of beers on tap, which include a selection of craft beer that’s always on rotation.

Hopheads (21)

There’s no airs about Hopheads and all they want is for you to have fun. Looking for and getting to Hopheads (if you haven’t been) is fun in itself. As you make your way to an area of town that you’ve probably never thought of visiting, follow the signs that’ll lead you down a spiral staircase.

Behold, you have arrived at Hopheads! The cavernous circular interior makes this spot quite special, and the capacity of the place is nice too. No more bumping shoulders shimmying to the restrooms!

Craft Beer On Rotation

Hopheads (1)

The folks behind Hopheads keep things fresh by rotating the craft beer they have on tap regularly, switching out a particular brew for another when its barrel runs dry. And with craft beer pints ($15-$18) you can be sure Hopheads goes through a significant quantity of this age old nectar.

When we visited the Rogue Shakespeare Stout, Kona Longboard Lager and a fruity brew from Thornbridge Brewery were on tap. We immediately gravitated towards the Rogue Shakespeare Stout and tried the Kona Longboard Lager for added variety (and more drinks).
If you’re familiar with, and love your oatmeal stouts, look out for this one when you visit Hopheads. It smells of roasted malts, coffee and hints of dark chocolate. With coffee-esque flavours immediately noticeable and lingering on the palate as you let the smooth and creamy stout flow through your mouth.
There's also Asahi on tap for those not into craft beer.

While we aren’t able to tell you what are the available brews at any given time, the few that regularly make an appearance are Deschutes Fresh Squeezed IPA, Kona Longboard Lager, Lost Coast Sharkinator, Rogue Hazelnut Brown Ale and Innis and Gunn Lager. If beer doesn’t do it for you, a variety of wines and spirits can be found on the drink menu as well.

Straightforward & Hearty Dishes

Hopheads (11)

Don’t expect mind-blowing revolutionary food at Hopheads, the dishes here are straightforward and hearty. Dishes such as the salted egg yolk pasta ($16.90) has been seen throughout Singapore, in fact it made us wonder why the trend hasn’t already died. However, Hopheads’ homage to the great salted egg yolk wave isn’t too shabby and has a nice hum of spiciness that gives the dish a bit more depth.

Hopheads (12)

To get your arteries expanding and heart pumping a little faster, for fear of becoming a tad bit clogged, there’s the bacon burger ($18.90). A juicy 180g beef patty topped with caramelised bacon and an egg.

If that isn’t enough to have you clutching your chest there are always dishes to share, like the smoked salmon pizza ($21.90), also another dish that hardly needs any explanation. Thick slices of lavish smoked salmon over a bed of rocket (to balance the sin), oozy gooey cheese and tomato puree.

While the food offerings at Hopheads aren’t anything to get particularly excited about, they wash down well with the fine selection of craft beer on tap, anyway, it’s the fun and games that has us coming back!
