Another stall has fallen prey to hawker centre renovations. Adored among residents, Hup Heng Wonton Noodle will be closing next month, due to repairs and reworks at Cheng San Market & Cooked Food Centre from 3 Jun to 24 Oct.
Selling bowls of wanton mee at an affordable price of S$3.50, the popular hawker store has been around for over 40 years.

According to a Facebook post from Can Eat! SG, you can expect a 15-minute wait time to order. I am not surprised.
Why? Hup Heng Wonton Noodle’s handmade char siew and wanton sets them apart from other wanton mee stores.
Served with wanton dumplings that are loaded with fragrant minced meat, the Wanton Noodles (S$3.50) features a generous portion of slurp-able egg noodles slathered in dark brown sauce. Of course, their handmade char siew deserves a mention too. Featuring thick slices of old-school glaze, the charred pork is described to be “drool-worthy”.
Take it from a reviewer who exclaimed that the “red red old-school char siew in the stall left me drooling.” And another — “While uncle slices the char siew, I was drooling.”
