When we think of South Korea, popular cities like Seoul or Jeju instantly come to mind. But for foodies, Jeollanam-do (or Jeonnam), located at the southernmost tip of the country, is a hidden culinary gem you shouldn’t miss. The good news? Jeonnam’s culinary delights are landing right here at the 2025 Singapore–Jeollanam-do Food Festival from 16 to 20 Jul 2025 at Jurong Point!

For 5 days only, JP1 Level 1 Centre Stage will be transformed into a mini Jeonnam, featuring top-tier seafood and fresh agricultural produce. Co-organised with KOTRA (Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency), this event features 10 handpicked food producers flown in directly from South Korea’s hidden nature paradise.

If you’re a seafood lover, the spotlight here is firmly on abalone — Jeonnam’s pride and joy. HAEMIWEON is showcasing high-tech flash-frozen live abalone (chilled to a stunning -60°C for ultimate freshness), along with canned versions and soy-marinated Jangjorim abalone.

Haesung International, the brand that introduced Jeonnam-style flounder porridge outside of Korea, brings its highly sought-after flounder porridge and Jeonbokjuk (abalone porridge), made with ingredients sourced from Wando City’s nutrient-rich waters.

Then there’s Jeonnam’s seaweed, harvested from over 6,100km of pristine coastline! A trusted brand since 1983, Wandomulsan serves up freshly roasted seasoned laver sheets to elevate any home-cooked meal. For a fun lil snack, get your hands on crispy seaweed chips dusted in onion powder from GIMSIWOL, and their surprisingly refreshing Seaweed Ade to wash it down.

The perfect sweet treat to round off this mini culinary adventure comes in the form of YEDASON’s Gijeongtteok — a steamed and fermented mugwort rice cake gently coated in soybean powder. With over 60 years of tradition supporting it, each bite is a soft, chewy taste of Korean heritage.

Whether you’re in it for the free samples (high five), stocking up on gourmet Korean ingredients, or simply curious about one of South Korea’s lesser-known culinary powerhouses, Jeonnam Food Festival is a must-visit event. What are you waiting for? Ppalli head down this week!

P.S. Keep your eyes on the dedicated retail corner packed with iconic Korean products that are rarely found outside the region.
