Everyone probably knows about minions— those yellow jelly bean-looking characters with huge eyes donning denim jumpsuits. With the upcoming movie “Minions: The Rise Of Gru”, Ji Xiang Confectionery has hopped on the bandwagon and launched their minions ang ku kueh that will be on sale for the month of July 2022, and will be offering masterclasses on how to create them!
Ji Xiang Confectionery started their business back in 1988 at Everton Park and opened their second outlet on 19 Feb 2021 at Bugis along Victoria Street. Their traditional ang ku kuehs come in six different kinds of fillings (S$1.10 each)— peanut, sweet bean, coconut, yam, corn and savoury mung bean. They also have premium Rainbow and 100% Mao Shan Wang Durian ang ku kuehs (S$3.50 each) which are only available at their Bugis outlet.
The minions ang ku kueh (S$12 for 3) are filled with banana sweet mung bean, and will also be sold at their Bugis outlet as well as three pushcart stalls located within three different foodcourts while stocks last— Lau Pa Sat Food Folks, Jurong Point Kopitiam and Plaza Singapura Kopitiam.
You can now learn how to make these minions ang ku kueh at their “Going bananas” masterclass which lasts about 1 hour 45 minutes.
The fees are as follows:
Weekdays— S$125 for first participant, S$85 for each subsequent participant.
Weekends— S$130 for first participant, S$90 for each subsequent participant.
For those who love minions, head down to Ji Xiang Confectionery’s Bugis outlet or any of their three pushcart stalls to get your hands on them. I’m an absolute hater of these irritating creatures speaking gibberish— no I’m not sorry if I offend anyone! I would buy these minions ang ku kueh just so that I can destroy them in my mouth! *evil laughter*
