In Singapore’s bustling Tanjong Pagar district, a surprising gastronomic adventure awaits at Hana Hana Japanese restaurant serving Uni Kaisendon (S$21.20). It is also going at a super affordable price of only S$21.20. Many have enjoyed this dish, which features a generous plate of fresh uni (sea urchin) over a bed of sushi rice and varied sashimi.

The Uni Kaisendon features a delightful seasonal mix of marinated salmon, snapper, tuna, baby scallops, and whelk, all topped with a lavish tray of uni.

Hana Hana Restaurant - uni kaisendon

The price of S$21.20 includes the half-uni tray with the kaisendon. If you crave more, you can upgrade to a full tray for an additional S$16, but the half tray already provides a generous serving of uni. The exquisite character of the uni, tasted rich and briney with a creamy texture. This beautiful bowl not only provides a visual feast, but it also has a surge of umami flavours, making it a favourite among seafood enthusiasts.

Hana Hana Restaurant - Ikura Uni Bowl

If chopped-up cubes of fish with uni is not your thing, then I would recommend the Ikura Uni Don(S$28.80). A generous portion of Ikura on a bed of Japanese rice topped with, of course, the same half tray of uni.

Hana Hana Restaurant - handroll of uni

To add more fun to eating these Kaisendons, both of these bowls come with sheets of cut seaweed, which is ideal for crafting your mini sashimi and uni hand rolls. This is also the most authentic way to experience your kaisendons – to start off eating it as a handroll followed by eating it directly from the bowl.

Hana Hana Restaurant - Hokkaido Uni Bowl

Psst! I’ll let you in on a little secret – from July onwards their sister branch Kai Kai at Wisma Atria will be having a Uni festival where Hokkaido Bafun Uni Don (S$45) will be served.

This beautiful bowl not only provides a visual feast, but it also has a surge of umami flavours, making it a favourite among seafood enthusiasts. Seeing how long queues start forming early on, I highly recommend coming down earlier to ensure you get first dibs!
