Looking for a local attraction to bring your kids to during the June school holidays?  Children’s entertainment theme park KidZania Singapore, which closed during the pandemic because of poor business, will re-open on 16 May 2024 after a 10-month renovation.

Located at Sentosa Island, the indoor attraction is a child-size replica city that spans 7,600 square metres over 2 floors. It allows children between the ages of 4 and 17 to explore more than 60 different occupations, ranging from doctors to pilots through role-play.

KidZania Singapore will operate under the new management of Sim Leisure Group, a Malaysia-headquartered theme park developer that also operates KidZania Kuala Lumpur.

Of KidZania Singapore’s 41 partner establishments, 34 are new. They include The Straits Times, Malaysia Airlines and Shopee. Old favourites such as Kiss 92FM, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) and Parkway East Hospital make their return.

For example, children participants roleplaying as SCDF firefighters will learn how to extinguish the blaze engulfing a fictional Flamingo Hotel by watching a simulation.

Kids roleplaying as journalists from The Straits Times (ST) will cover an imaginary incident at a location in KidZania, and create a headline that will go under the ST masthead. In July, children can present the news as ST visual journalists with a green screen behind them.

The reinvigorated theme park will also feature experiences focused on mental health, nutrition and sustainability, as well as “cities and jobs of the future”, which include up-and-coming occupations centred around technology and environmental stewardship.

Singapore-based urban farm Sustenir, which grows fresh, non-native crops using indoor vertical farming, will teach children local high-tech farming techniques through a class in hydroponics seeding. Participants will get to bring home a small plant to grow themselves.

Ticket prices start at S$29 for toddlers aged 2 to 3, from S$60 for children aged 4 to 17 years, and from S$37 for adults (above 18 years of age), according to KidZania Singapore’s website.
