Most of us are veterans when it comes to online shopping, and no seasoned online shopper is a stranger to the alluring calls of a particular bright orange app that forces all of us to rely on our rusty Chinese skills. If that’s the only aspect of online shopping that has ever intimidated you (well, apart from a very expensive shopping cart), then I have good news for you. Located in People’s Park Complex is the Kunhai Flagship Store @ Taobao, a local merchant specialising in Chinese food and snacks.

Kunhai sells a variety of well-loved Chinese food, ranging from condiments to frozen foods, as well as drinks. I know it’s not as good as shopping for the real deal in China, but doesn’t this cut it pretty dang close?

Some of Kunhai’s bestselling products include the Nongfu Spring Drink ChaPai Tea 农夫山泉茶派 (S$16.50) which comes in a set of five and features a myriad of different fruity flavours such as grapefruit, peach oolong, rose lychee, and more.

I’ve spent quite a number of nights in uni having supper with friends, and that’s because we absolutely adore Suan La Fen 嗨吃家酸辣粉 (S$1.50). Nothing keeps you fuelled for a study session (attempt) like a bowl of sour-spicy instant glass noodles, which is available in four different flavours at Kunhai.

Kunhai also retails the well-loved Xiang Piao Piao Classic Milk Tea 香飘飘经典奶茶 (S$1.28), which comes in three different flavours—original, dasheen (taro), and wheat. I wonder if my colleague Vera likes these, what with the title of Milk Tea Princess she so proudly holds.

Seafood lovers would definitely want to give the Honghu Eco Fishery Mini Mala Crayfish Lobster 洪湖渔家麻辣小龙虾 (S$12.95) a go. All you need to do is heat it up for ten minutes and it’s ready for devouring—perfect to spice up your usual family dinners.

Kunhai’s Hao Huan Luo Snail Noodle 好欢螺螺蛳粉 (S$3.20) is certainly the perfect contender if you’re looking for something beyond your basic instant noodle flavours. I’m sure most of us don’t usually associate snails with noodle dishes, but this one might have hit the s-nail on the head.

The physical store is a good way to explore Kunhai’s wide variety of options, though if you’d prefer to err on the side of caution, these items are available for purchase on e-commerce platforms such as Shopee and Lazada.
