I have never been to Morocco, but La Fez Cafe & Bakery in Siglap might do the trick. I know there has been a slew of gorgeous cafes that have entered our already saturated cafe scene, but I think we can crown La Fez as one of the prettiest yet. Inspired by the dreamy, rose-tinted city of Marrakesh, La Fez is everything you’ve dreamed of and more.
The walls are covered in the softest of pinks as the famed ‘Red City’ is, then adorned with gold accents and rattan chairs that will make your heart sing. With well-placed palms and magical lamps hanging from the walls, you know brunch will never be the same after your time here.
La Fez serves Moroccan-inspired food where nourishment is at the forefront of its mission. So, it’s not just a pretty face. Like all millennials, we adore brunch. Luckily for us, La Fez serves a selection of all-day brunch, so every time of the day is brunch O’clock. Choose from the ever-popular Majorelle Shakshuka with Feta Cheese (S$19.90) served in a traditional tagine which I’m told seals in all those scrumptious flavours.
At La Fez you can also look forward to Ziz Latkes (S$12.90)—think crispy potato pancakes that are served with Moroccan mayonnaise or the Baie Acai Bowl (S$10.90) for those who want that burst of açaí goodness.
It’s certainly a more exciting affair for lunch and dinner, and you’ll be pleased to know that they are prepared in traditional Moroccan earthenware. These unglazed pots are said to add flavour to your dishes, so be prepared to be blown away by the likes of the Moroccan Harissa Chicken Legs (S$17.90) and the Aamir Lamb Tagine (S$30.90).
When one is at La Fez, you can’t leave ordering a traditional cup of Nous Nous (S$3.90). Made with equal parts espresso and milk, you can savour this warm drink as you dream of the spell-blinding souks and maybe flying carpets.
