Calling all thrill-seekers! Touted as Singapore’s #1 escape room experience, LOST SG has reopened its doors at Bencoolen’s very hip mall, GR.iD.

Established in 2014, the highly-rated escape room is back…but better. Now featuring 5 60-minute escape rooms that are enhanced 2.0 versions of fan-favourite themes, their newly revamped outlet spans over 2,500 square feet.

From the beginner-friendly Mausoleum 2.0 to the challenging Alcatraz 2.0, each uniquely-themed room offers thought-provoking fun with varying difficulties! As LOST SG encourages 2 to 12 pax per room, their stimulating escape rooms are perfect for team-building exercises or strengthening relationships with your loved ones.

Breathing life through its different storylines, the 5 themed rooms include — Alcatraz 2.0, Exodus 2.0, Mausoleum 2.0, Castiglione 2.0, and the spine-chilling Aokigahara 2.0. What’s new? Expect immersive puzzles and clues facilitated by innovative technologies, such as laser beams and touch sensors.

Remember, anything in the room may or may not be intentional. As someone who has never tried an escape room before, I was given the opportunity to try it for myself.

Needless to say, LOST SG’s commitment to realism and details was extremely impressive. Among the 5 rooms that I have experienced, Mausoleum 2.0 and Aokigahara 2.0 left the greatest impression on me.

No spoilers here ah.

Before entering the escape room, all participants must watch an introductory video that visually depicts the room’s storyline. Then the fun begins!

As Mausoleum 2.0’s storyline was based around Emperor Qin‘s Terracotta Army, the room was decorated with full-sized clay soldiers and other ancient China-related props (my personal favourite was the Gold Dragon Seal). Furthermore, the use of Chinese characters as symbols was a stylistic touch that correlated back to the room’s theme.

Guess what, there are hints shown in UV lighting too. SO COOL.

Similarly, Aokigahara 2.0 which was the only horror-themed escape room at LOST SG, did not disappoint. Participants will be given a vintage lantern, which will be their primary source of light as they enter the mythical Japanese-themed room. Although there are no jumpscare actors, the room has audio effects that will scare you out of your wits.

Stephanie, the lead designer of Aokigahara 2.0, shared that most of the props are handmade by her. This includes the wide variety of Japanese dolls and masks, which add to LOST SG’s painstaking attention to detail.

I can’t imagine how long the prop-making took as the room design was eerily realistic…
