In efforts to curb the rising cost of living, the Malaysian Ministry of Domestic Trade & Cost of Living (KPDN) has been rolling out several plans from vending machines to affordable meals. The Menu Rahmah initiative was a trailblazer effort by the KPDN done voluntarily by restaurant owners and vendors. Restaurants across Malaysia welcomed the initiative with open arms-developing extensive menus starting from as low as RM5 each.
Soon after, fast food establishments took the opportunity to introduce their own Menu Rahmah dishes as well. Latest to join the trend is KFC & Pizza Hut who showcased their very own RM5 Menu Rahmah meals on 29 May 2023.
For RM5, you get 1 piece of chicken, their yummy butterscotch bun and mineral water. However, you should note that the combo is only available on Monday to Friday, 2pm to 5pm.
Over in Pizza Hut, you get 1 personal pizza and a bottle of mineral water for RM5 as well. You can choose from up to 5 different flavours for your personal pizza.
The initiative, launched by the Domestic Trade and Cost Of Living Minister Salahuddin Ayub, added how effective the Menu Rahmah initiative has been. He further mentioned that the program now encompasses 3,000 food sellers actively participating in it.
Other fast food outlets including the likes of Burger King, Texas Chicken and McDonald’s have also introduced their Menu Rahmah meals. Safe to say, Malaysians have been welcoming these meals catered to the B40 community. You can check out a comprehensive list of Menu Rahmah meals over on the Ministry of Domestic Trade & Cost of Living (KPDN)’s website.
