Malaysia is finally getting its first taste of premium samgyetang with the arrival of MODU at The Exchange TRX, and honestly, it feels about time. Anyone who has been to their Orchard Road outlet in Singapore will know the drill.

Walking into MODU is a bit like stepping into a modern Hanok dream. Warm wood, soft lighting, and private rooms that make you feel like you’ve been gently ushered into your own little hideaway.

It’s elegant without trying too hard, the kind of place where you sit down and immediately think, yes, I’m going to be here for a while.

MODU brings with it everything we love about Korea’s boyang-sik tradition. Here, samgyetang isn’t just soup. It’s culture. It’s comfort. It’s the kind of bowl that makes you feel taken care of.

And because each one simmers for a full 12 hours, the broth arrives impossibly silky and rich, carrying depth you can taste before you even pick up your spoon.

The best part is the lineup of 6 samgyetang interpretations with halal-certified ingredients, each with its own personality. Hanbang Samgyetang is the classic everybody knows and trusts. Spicy Hangover Samgyetang is basically a wake-up call in a bowl.

MODU TRX - Perilla & black chicken

Perilla Seed Samgyetang has that creamy and unique profile that will excite your taste buds. Black Sesame Samgyetang is for anyone who loves a nutty, aromatic finish. Black Chicken Samgyetang feels almost regal with its rich nutritional profile. Beauty Collagen Samgyetang is the gentle yet nourishing option.

Our team tried 4 of them and we were unanimous. Black Chicken and Spicy Hangover were the show-stealers, though others are just as special.

Of course, I can’t talk about MODU without mentioning the sides. Minari Pancakes are refreshing in a way you don’t expect. Fried Enoki? Crispy, addictive, and impossible to stop picking at.

Desserts stay soft-spoken yet lovely with Black Sesame Ice Cream or Dried Persimmon and if you’re still in the mood to wander, TOFU G is literally right next door.

TOFU G is MODU’s sweet neighbour, the one serving Malaysia’s first tofu-based gelato. They churn it live, so every scoop feels airy and fresh. Tofu, black sesame, matcha, and pistachio are few of the many variations you can pick.

Together, MODU and TOFU G bring something refreshingly unique to The Exchange TRX. If you’re curious about Korea’s wellness favourites or simply want a meal that leaves you feeling good, it’s worth stopping by to experience it for yourself.
