Most people would agree that Taiwanese food is one of the most underrated cuisines. Having enjoyed it a fair few restaurants lately, I got excited when I heard about Taiwan’s Michelin guide eatery, Moon Moon Food which has opened its 1st overseas outlet at Ngee Ann City!
As they are multiple-time winners of the Michelin Bib Gourmand, it is no surprise the chain is a crowd favourite in Taiwan. The name Moon Moon Food derives from the unique Chinese word double moons (雙月), which symbolises reunions and gatherings during the full moon.
Specialising in authentic Taiwanese health soups, the restaurant creates flavours inspired by the mother of Moon Moon Food’s founder. It wants diners to step foot into a dining environment with a family feel whilst savouring healthy, home-style cooking.
Their menu is huge, similar to the flagship store in Taiwan and peppered with some local exclusives. These exclusive Singapore menu items include Taiwanese snacks such as Salty Crispy Poppers (S$13.80) and Crispy Prawn Cake with Yuzu Mayo (S$14.80).
Look out for renowned favourites such as the Sea Bass Soup with Clam (S$25.80), Glutinous Rice with Mushroom and Pork (S$8.80) and the popular Spicy Sesame Noodles (S$13.80). Other new menu items include the Chinese Yam with Osmanthus Plum Sauce (S$7.80) and the Herbal Kampong Chicken (S$26.80).
