Andaz is home to many great concepts, and also the amazing Sunroom, which is an absolute dream to get work done in while you await dinner. From Auntie’s Wok and Steam and Alley on 25, Andaz has never let me down. So when the latest Mr Stork X Bar Pop Up Series unveiled, I couldn’t help but get a glimpse of it for myself.

Now I’ve never been one for views, but the panoramic view from a rooftop bar on level 39 is truly, wait for it, next level. No? Just me? Okay anyway, running until the end of the year, the Mr Stork Pop Up will house a different bartender and their menu of three cocktails and a bar bite each month, in celebration of their birthday months. Lined up are a host of talents from well-adored bars such as Smoke and Mirrors and Kafe Utu, but this month’s special guest is Thomas Sobota of Lime House who’s taking the reins at Mr Stork, along with his Caribbean-styled tipple gracing the its menu for the whole month of July.

Haiti Daiquiri

Thomas’ menu starts with the Haiti Daiquiri (S$25) which is a blend of Clairin Communal rum and fresh lime juice, as well as the more-than-potent Last Word in Fire (S$25) that’s a meld of RumFire, green chartreuse, maraschino liqueur, and fresh lime juice.

Last Word in Fire

Don’t let the Last Word in Fire‘s dainty looks fool you, just a glass or two is more than capable of tipping you into the “embarrassing stuff” zone, and we don’t want that. Well, not this early anyway.

Jamaican Jerk Chicken

What you can’t miss is the Jamaican Jerk Chicken with Cilantro Lime Dip (S$22) that’s the closest to the stuff of dreams as you’ll get (especially on the 39th floor). Too-tender chicken thigh chunks coated in a creamy, tangy dip is what you’ll want to be popping throughout the night of already fantastic drinks.

In Negroni Veritas

To wrap up the guest menu for this month, the In Negroni Veritas (S$25) joins us at the table. And I know what you’re thinking; a negroni’s a negroni, but Thomas’ version is one hell of an iteration. If you can’t help but run back to the classic combination of veritas, campari, vermouth rosso, and orange zest, you know where to look.

Of course, the regular menu at Mr Stork is still available for order, though fans of the rooftop bar will be glad to know that the Signature Cocktails and Bar Snacks menu have recently been refreshed.

Front shot of the Thai-tonic

Find the Aaliya which is served in an adorable baby elephant glass, or the Thai-tonic that comes in a tall, on-theme tiki mug. For your munching pleasure, I’d say go straight for the Panko Tiger Prawn with Mentaiko Yuzu Mayonnaise and Heirloom Tomato Bruschetta to sort you out for the evening.

A bowl of truffle fries

Thomas’ menu runs for the month of July, while Edu Zamora of Smoke & Mirrors and Joma Rivera of Café Utu will have guest menus of their own in the months to come.
