Many might’ve missed Auntie’s Wok & Steam at Andaz Singapore when they temporarily shut during the circuit breaker period. Fans of the Chinese restaurant can now look forward to a newly revamped and an even better menu that boasts full-bodied flavours like never before.

On weekdays from noon to 2.30pm, lunch tray sets starting at S$26 will be made available. The three-course set includes a main, a side, and the speciality Andaz Iced Tea—which is TWG Singapore Breakfast Tea with homemade pandan syrup for that added punch of fragrance. It goes for S$26.

If you just have to end your meal with a saccharine finish, then the four-course set is probably what you’re looking for. At S$29, just a top up of S$3 more, the second lunch tray set entitles you to a main, a side, a dessert, and of course, the perennial Andaz Iced Tea.

Choose from a selection of mains, of which the Beef Brisket Noodle Soup, Seafood Organic Fried Rice, Steamed Atlantic Cod, and Wok-Fried Angus Beef emerge as favourites. The Seafood Organic Fried Rice is a glorious, smoky meld of tiger prawns, squid, crab meat, and egg that dances the fine balance of adequate seasoning and wok hei flavours.

Poached Herbal Prawns

Four sides are available—Crispy Organic Cucumber, Double Boiled Soup of the Day (which so happened to be an egg drop soup in chicken broth during our visit), Hong Kong Style Vegetables, and Wok-fried French Beans.

My dining partner lauds the Double Boiled Soup of the Day as reminiscent of her grandmother’s cooking, bringing with it fond memories of her childhood. And if that alone isn’t testament to the homely flavours at Auntie’s Wok and Steam, then I don’t know what is.

And for those opting for dessert, you have the Almond Silken Tofu & Lychee Jelly, Chilled Mango Sago & Pomelo, Steamed Yam Paste with Coconut Cream & Gingko Nut, and a Seasonal Sliced Fruit Platter to choose from. Phew, was that a mouthful.

Rainforest Alliance Coffee Pork Ribs and Sesame

If you’re a human equivalent of an insatiable pig like I am, then you might look to beef up the lunch table with more dishes to supplement. Some great options to consider are the Poached Herbal Prawns in Chinese Wine (S$22 for small, S$32 for large)—which, by the way, also comes with a delicious, rich broth that I couldn’t resist wolfing down, Rainforest Alliance Coffee Pork Ribs and Sesame (S$18 for small, S$28 for large) and the Xinjiang Style Beef Cubes (S$28 for small, S$38 for large).

Start 2021 right by treating yourself to a hearty meal with an incredible view at Auntie’s Wok & Steam.
