If you’re heading to Kuala Lumpur and you need somewhere to stay, you’re in for a treat. Far East Hospitality Group has set its sights on expanding the Oasia brand to Malaysia with its first hotel outside of Singapore – Oasia Suites Kuala Lumpur.
Situated in the Golden Triangle of KL, Oasia Suites is a close walk to KL city and strategically located near the Central Business District for optimal accessibility and convenience.
Let’s be real; you’re probably either in KL for business or to shop till you drop and choosing to stay at Oasia means you can do both with ease.
The hotel stays true to the Oasia brand and aims to redefine the hospitality experience within a city setting. It’s not just a hotel and you’ll see exactly what I mean.
Their motto and philosophy is to enable guests to Journey Well through focusing on three wellness pillars: Refresh, Refuel and Recharge.
Oasia Suites KL boasts five room categories, 247 rooms all equipped with a built-in kitchenette, washing machine and dryer. I felt right at home in the spacious One-Bedroom Premier Room which had welcoming vibes the whole way through.
It’s a home away from home that still provides the luxurious aspect of a hotel stay, allowing guests to refresh after a tiring journey.
Hotel beds are the true test of a comfortable stay and a bed as inviting as the ones at Oasia Suites calls for a celebration. The bedrooms are bright, with floor-to-ceiling windows that allow an appreciation of natural light and city views.
Well-lit bathrooms are equipped with all the amenities you could need and —my favourite part— a rain shower that dispenses the perfect water pressure to soothe your body after a long day.
Bigger groups or families are amply catered to as well with options like the Two-Bedroom Premier Suite which made me want to relocate altogether. Imagine a weekend getaway in that!
For the business traveller, conducive working spaces and meeting rooms are readily available, adding to the holistic approach of Oasia Suites KL being more than just somewhere to stay for the night.
Adjourn your meeting and head to the Resident Lounge, where you’ll find a relaxing atmosphere to unwind with a cup of coffee and a healthy snack.
The Resident Lounge is accessible 24/7, which means you’ll always have a communal space and a warm cuppa to get you through those long work nights.
Healthy snacks may be provided at the lounge but to really refuel, Oasia Suites’ very own Kafe Oasia will make sure you never go hungry. With an international ala carte menu and daily breakfast buffet, you’ll be spoilt for choice.
Refuelling by Oasia standards means focusing on healthier meal options that deliver on taste as well. The menu is also seasonal and will change on a quarterly basis, making sure that guests always have something to look forward to on their return.
Starters like the fresh rice rolls were a good portion for sharing, a burst of flavour in every bite. The homemade dipping sauce elevated the dish to a whole other level, with the fish sauce adding just the right amount of saltiness.
I’ve been craving a good asam pedas for awhile now and was intrigued by the incorporation of oxtail instead of the more traditional use of fish. The result was a tangy meaty flavour that worked really well with the fragrant bunga telang (or blue pea flower) rice, naturally dyed of course.
For the more international palate, options like the delicate fillet of garoupa served poached in a light beurre blanc will make for a guilt-free meal. The fish is organic too, a testament to Kafe Oasia’s belief in serving quality ingredients.
As simple as this dessert may look, Kafe Oasia’s Panna Cotta was layered with texture and flavour. Smooth and creamy panna cotta with just the right sweetness paired perfectly with the tart berries.
This dessert offering featured more local flavours with a twist. Traditional pisang goreng or fried bananas were topped with a strawberry sauce and vanilla flavoured Cornetto, making the dish reminiscent of an Asian Banana Split.
Indulge in the desserts and rest easy knowing Oasia Suites KL’s extensive facilities will be there when you need to recharge after.
I was thrilled to learn that their gym is 24 hours and on top of that, an extensive choice of equipment is available. Keep up those fitness levels with a great view of the city, given the gym’s location on the 24th floor.
Facilities like these will make anyone want to exercise.
Speaking of great city views, the rooftop pool is the epitome of a recharge location. Also located on the 24th floor, the garden-like setting makes the pool area an oasis in the heart of a concrete jungle.
Float, soak and tan away any remaining travel blues while enjoying the calming silence that such a setup presents. If you can’t find me at the buffet, this would probably be the next best place to look.
I mentioned Oasia Suites KL’s ideal location for business and shopping pursuits, but it also quite literally sits across from two major leisure attractions: The KL Forest Eco Park and KL Tower.
The Kuala Lumpur Forest Eco Park is approximately 9.3 hectares of lush greenery within the concrete jungle of KL. It is impressively the only remaining tropical rainforest in the middle of the city and is one of the oldest permanent reserved forests in the country!
As a guest staying at Oasia Suites KL, you can enjoy the forest in all its natural beauty and pop back to your hotel room any time you please.
The best way to appreciate the contrasting forest and city views would be through the canopy walk which features towers as high as 80 metres. Friendly rangers are around to explain the diverse surviving flora and fauna and point out the occasional fruit bat in the area.
Look around you at any point in the forest and you’ll hardly miss the Menara KL or KL Tower, the seventh tallest freestanding tower in the world.
Everyone seems to come to KL for a photo with the iconic Petronas Twin Towers, and the view from KL Tower’s new Skyboxes will guarantee a picture that will last a lifetime. Step into a transparent box and hover 420m over the city, with a 360 degree view.
If the adrenaline alone doesn’t recharge you, taking in such a breathtaking view surely will.
Everything Oasia Suites KL has to offer makes it ideal for both transit as well as long stays. Journeying well doesn’t have to be difficult to achieve and anyone seeking a holistic stay will find that Oasia Suites strikes the perfect balance between city bustle and green escape.
Refresh, Refuel and Recharge in whichever order you please, but trust that Oasia Suites KL will give you the getaway that you desire.
