After Liang Ji Kway Teow King’s S$2 char kway teow, we have returned with more National Day promotions featuring another hawker delicacy. This time around, it’s none other than chicken rice!
To celebrate Singapore’s 55th birthday, OK Chicken Rice will be treating all seniors above the age of 50 to their Signature Chicken Rice for only S$0.55! Not only do our pioneers get a treat, diners—young or old—will also get a 55% discount off all menu items.
Such great deals come with a catch, of course. To enjoy these celebratory promotions, customers must be dressed in the colours of our national flag, red or white, and maybe even a combination of both since it’s a day to display your patriotism after all!
Established in 2018, the eatery has, in fact, been running similar National Day promotions in the previous years. Just a few weeks back, they even had a Polling Day offer giving out free plates of chicken rice for any four of their main dishes purchased.
Interesting promotions aside, the halal-certified establishment has also been actively involved in food donation drives and ‘pay it forward’ campaigns. During the ‘Circuit Breaker’ period, not only have they served hundreds of free meals to Taxi and PHV drivers, they also served free meals of Roast & Steam Chicken Rice to nursing homes and front line workers.
OK Chicken Rice’s community initiatives definitely showcased the true Singapore spirit. Their acts of kindness and sense of community are those that we can definitely learn from.
