Whenever October comes around, you know it’s time for one of the most famous German festivals—Oktoberfest. This is the world’s largest beer festival, and beer lovers will be glad to know that there are a few good celebratory spots here in Singapore too.
Originating as a celebration of Crown Prince Ludwig’s marriage to Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen on 12 October 1810, it’s now a worldwide festival that beer fans look forward to yearly.
We won’t bore you with too many historical facts, but you’ll want to check out our top picks of 8 places to binge on bratwurst and booze this Oktoberfest 2019.
1. Shake Shack
Yes, Shake Shack is celebrating Oktoberfest with us this year, too. Clink your mugs of craft beer, sit back, and relax to live music from local musician duo Jack & Rai.
From 19 September – 2 October 2019, you can choose from four different craft beers, paired with classics from the Shake Shack menu. Grab a Shacktoberfest Beer Passport (S$30) for three cold pints of beer (16oz each)—the first pint will be served in an exclusive ShackMeisterTM which you can bring home.
Two of these beers hail from the Brooklyn Brewery: the ShackMeisterTM Ale, a citrusy and slightly bitter malt ale, and the Brooklyn Lager, a hoppy, floral, bitter amber-gold lager with a sweet caramel malt flavour.
Our local Archipelago Brewery brings us Summer IPA, a medium-bodied hoppy beer with tangy notes of grapefruit and orange. Stout drinkers will like the elegant and rich Respect Porter, with beautiful layers of espresso, dark chocolate, rich malt, and caramel—finishing on a velvet bittersweet note.

2. Poolside Patio
What’s better than enjoying a pint of ice-cold beer? Sipping on beer by the poolside, with an amazing BBQ selection!
From 20 September – 26 October 2019, you can do just that on every Friday and Saturday evening at Poolside Patio in Pan Pacific Singapore. We’re celebrating Oktoberfest in style!
The hearty BBQ selection from the Poolside Oktoberfest BBQ (S$78++/adult, S$39++/child) includes a variety of bread (think: Dark Rye, Sourdough and more) and classic German appetisers like Black Forest Ham, Bierschinken (a type of German sausage eaten with beer) and more.

3. RedDot Brewhouse
How can we miss out on Singapore’s first locally-owned, independent commercial microbrewery? For Oktoberfest, RedDot Brewhouse has an authentic celebration lined up for you on 1 – 16 October 2019.
Started in 1997, RedDot Brewhouse now has two outlets (one in Dempsey and one in Boat Quay), and you can join in the festivities at both.
At this tropical beer garden, you can look forward to more than just local beers this October. Bring a few beer buddies to share their exclusive Oktoberfest platter—it’s 115cm long, and sure to leave you feeling stuffed.

4. Stuttgart Blackforest Boutique S-Café
If you want to celebrate Oktoberfest properly, then you’ll have to go to a German dining spot. And where else should you head to, but Stuttgart Blackforest Boutique S-Café?
For two days only on 19 and 20 October 2019, step into this rustic German café for free-flow food and beer (S$68++/adult, food buffet with bottomless beverages, S$48++/adult, food buffet with one complimentary beverage, S$35++/children, food buffet with one complimentary beverage ). You’ll be greeted by handcrafted cuckoo clocks, life-sized toy nutcrackers, and even a bubbling water mill in the corner.
Their Schweinshaxe, or Pork Knuckle is to die for. Crispy skin, juicy and tender pork meat layered with melt-in-mouth fats, and dense, creamy mashed potato—it doesn’t get better than this.
Hopefully, you’ll get to try their famous Signature Black Forest Cake. From the brandy-soaked cherries to the rich chocolate sponge cake, this cake is probably the closest you’ll get to heaven.

5. LeVel33
If you’re going to celebrate Oktoberfest, you might as well celebrate it in style at LeVel33. The world’s tallest urban microbrewery provides you with an excellent view of Singapore’s cityscape.
With three different spaces—LeVel33 Dining Room, LeVel33 Social, and LeVel33 Terrace—you can be sure that your dining and drinking experience will be one to remember.
For Oktoberfest, they’ll be offering their specially brewed Festbier (S$9.88/300ml, opening to 8pm & S$12.88/300ml after 8pm). It’ll be on tap until it runs dry, so hurry down and grab a pint.
If you’re feeling peckish, it’s always a good time for dessert. The Spent Grain Chocolate Tart, Stout Ganache, Strawberry Jam (S$15) is rich, crumbly and buttery. Yum!

6. Brotzeit
Feast to your heart’s content at Brotzeit this Oktoberfest! From 3 September – 15 October 2019, enjoy free-flow beers and wines at this famous German restaurant.
At S$38, you’ll get free-flow Oktoberfest beer and house wines for two hours. If that’s still not enough, go for the S$98 option. Indulge in free-flow Oktoberfest beer, house wines, and their scrumptious Oktoberfest menu. Feel free to stuff your face and chug beer for, well, as long as you like (or can).
Make sure you have space for the Schweinshaxn, or crispy oven-roasted pork knuckle (S$39 a la carte). Finish off the meal with the Brezn, or Bavarian pretzel (S$3.50/piece, S$15/6 pieces).

7. The Guild
October is an exciting month for The Guild on Keong Saik Road. You’ll want to drop by for a taste of Hong Kong’s best craft brewery, Young Master Ales.
From 1 – 13 October 2019, get ready for a flamin’ good time. Sink your teeth into the mala bratwurst (German sausage)—this juicy sausage will tingle your tastebuds with numbing Sichuan peppercorns and spices.
To quench the heat, pair it with the rich and malty Festbier. This seasonal Young Master Oktoberfest Lager takes influence from historic Oktoberfest beer in Bavaria, promising warm notes of toast, pretzels, apricots and caramel. Mmm.
