Jakarta is getting a taste of Malaysian kopitiam culture, as Oriental Kopi prepares to open its first Indonesia outlet at Central Park Mall by the end of 2026.
The upcoming outlet at Central Park Mall in West Jakarta marks Oriental Kopi’s second overseas market, following its first international opening in Singapore in Nov 2024. Located within the sprawling Podomoro City development, the mall is one of the area’s major shopping and lifestyle destinations.
Oriental Kopi is entering Indonesia through a joint venture with PT Era Boga Nusantara (EBN), also known as Erajaya Food & Nourishment and part of Indonesian retail group PT Erajaya Swasembada Tbk.
The partnership will initially focus on expanding Oriental Kopi across Jabodetabek, with the Central Park Mall outlet serving as its first step into the Indonesian market.
Known for its nostalgic Nanyang-style fare, the Malaysian chain is expected to bring plenty of familiar favourites to West Jakarta, including signature Nasi Lemak, Char Kuey Teow, Curry Laksa Mee, Hainanese Chicken Rice and Mee Siam.
For lighter bites, expect classic kopitiam staples such as Double Butter Kaya Toast, Polo Bun and Signature Egg Tarts, alongside drinks and desserts including Oriental Kopi and Cendol. Those with a bigger appetite can also tuck into Malay Rendang Chicken, Nanyang Curry Chicken Rice, Malaysian Fried Rice and Prawn Fried Rice.
Indonesia isn’t the only new destination on Oriental Kopi’s radar either. The brand has also signed a Territory Franchise Agreement with Mauritius-based Coffee Time Ltd, paving the way for its entry into Mauritius.
For now, Jakarta gets first dibs. A plate of nasi lemak, a flaky egg tart and a cup of kopi could soon be part of the city’s dining scene. Will you be dropping by Oriental Kopi once it opens in Indonesia?
