I don’t know about you but there is nothing like a night market to reinvigorate oneself. After all, there is so much in Singapore that we haven’t already re-discovered. It does seem like Shiok Shiok Night Market, opened at the right time. Located outside the Concorde Hotel, this is the perhaps salve for us to soothe the growing cabin fever and ever-present wanderlust.
Like its namesake, Shiok Shiok Night Market is here to relive all the best parts of a night market. There are a total of five stalls at the market; you have Japanese-style skewers at Shiok Shiok Grill, Mookata King, Seoul Hungry, Star Seafood, and a drinks stall.
If you’ve noticed a pattern, then very astute reader, you’ve hit the nail on the head. The central theme for Shiok Shiok Night Market, as it appears, is all things barbecue. Of course, there’s the ever-popular Thai-style barbecue from Mookata King for those who need a taste of Bangkok.
All the more to curb that wanderlust, I’d say. For those longing for the busy bustling streets of Korea, Seoul Hungry is here for you. Just thinking about all that galbi (beef short rib) and samyeopsal (pork belly) is making my mouth water.
Make sure you wash all of that down with the drink stall’s offering of soju, beer, and sake. That’s my kind of Friday night alright.
After all, there is nothing better than the sound of sizzling meat and laughter going into the middle of the night. Another fun thing about this market is that it’s open from 4pm till 3am. That’s right, you can chat while you feast on grilled meats until the wee hours of the night. If you’ve always been looking for a place to hang after midnight, Shiok Shiok Night Market has to be the best place.
