4th of July, heaps of meat, and the red, white and blue—these are the three words that come to mind whenever I hear of American BBQ. Quite the stereotypical assumption, I know, however, given the amount of air time American TV has on our devices, I can’t possibly think of anything else that truly encapsulates the essence of it any better.

Enter SmokeHse by Esseplore; a true-blue American smokehouse showcasing Kansas City-style BBQ by Singapore’s only Kansas City-trained Pitmaster, Chef Jimmy Cheang. A new concept by foodtech company, Esseplore, SmokeHse features a constellation of low and slow-grilled meats that are cooked up to 16 hours using two types of wood: American Apple Wood and American Hickory Wood.

Signature BBQ Spanish Iberico Pork Ribs

Tuck into a wide array of BBQ dishes this festive season, where all their meat are kissed with a smoky hint. Mains include the Signature BBQ Spanish Iberico Pork Ribs (S$68 for 1.2kg) which sees the meat dry-rubbed with an incredibly flavourful blend overnight, and glazed with a homemade Smoque BBQ sauce to a glistening finish.

Adorning a slightly similar taste profile to bak kwa, the Signature BBQ Spanish Iberico Pork Ribs is meticulously barbecued to produce a soft and tender end product. With each bite, you’ll taste hints of American Apple Wood that’ll pleasantly linger in your mouth till you wash it down with your bevvy of choice.

Signature BBQ Smoked Beef Ribs

If you’re a beef lover, like me, you can’t miss out on their Signature BBQ Smoked Beef Ribs (S$85 for 2kg). The American Angus will blow you away with its spicy marinade and lovely fall-off-the-bone texture.

Signature BBQ Smoked Beef Ribs

Like the Pork Ribs, the meat on the Beef Ribs’ soft and tender, and oozes heaps of smokiness from the American Hickory Wood that’s used to barbecue it. When paired with Roasted Smashed Baby Potatoes (S$12), the dish will leave a rich yet herbaceous aftertaste.

Smoked Beef Brisket

Voracious eaters will absolutely revel in the Smoked Beef Brisket (S$80). The USDA Beef Brisket is slathered with a special dry rub overnight, smoked with American Hickory Wood and glazed with a mouth-watering homemade Smoque BBQ sauce. If you’re not a fan of excessive chewing, you may want to give this a miss.

BBQ Pulled Pork Slider

As the meats will come in huge and generous portions, there are bound to be leftovers. And what happens with the leftovers? You can use them to make your very own pulled-meat sliders! Although the meat will remain just as tender and juicy with proper storage and heat up methods, you may opt for either of their slider sets: the BBQ Pulled Pork Slider Set (S$78) or the Pulled Beef Brisket Slider Set (S$108).

Burnt Cheese Cake

Apart from the meats, you may also add on a Burnt Cheesecake (S$40 for six-inch) to complete your festive dinner.

As their physical restaurant is still in the works, SmokeHse by Esseplore currently only do online orders, and from now till 24 December 2021, you get to enjoy 20% off on limited sets. You might not have realised that you’re looking for a proper Kansas City-style BBQ Christmas feast, but this is your sign to try one today.
