After 26 years of providing a winter experience in Singapore’s tropical climate, Snow City will officially cease operations on 30 Sep 2026. Situated in Jurong East, the attraction has served as a popular respite from the heat, particularly for families and school groups encountering snow for the first time.

Visitors will have a final opportunity to experience Snow City through a farewell campaign titled One Last Snowfall. Running from Jun to Sep, the campaign will feature limited-time activities and special offers for both returning and new guests.

A key attraction during this period is the discounted Snow Play package, priced at S$19 for adults and S$16 for children, approximately 30% below standard ticket rates. The package includes 1 hour of snow play and a bumper car ride, maintaining the straightforward and enjoyable experience that has characterised Snow City for years.

Over the decades, Snow City evolved beyond its role as an indoor snow chamber. It became a venue for school excursions, where students engaged in snowball fights, and a place where children experienced “winter” for the first time.

Families often donned thick jackets for photographs that appeared surreal within Singapore’s tropical environment. For many, it provided a brief yet memorable respite from the country’s hot and humid climate.

The Science Centre Board states that the closure is part of a comprehensive review of its attractions, intended to maintain the relevance of offerings as visitor interests change. During this transition, all 8 full-time staff members from Snow City have been offered redeployment opportunities within the organisation, thereby ensuring employment continuity as the institution redefines its strategic direction.

For many Singaporeans, the closure of Snow City marks the conclusion of a familiar chapter. It has been one of the few venues where visitors could build a snowman, experience the sensation of artificial winter, and return to the humid climate within minutes.

Let’s hope that Snow City returns soon to give a new generation of Singaporeans the chance to experience a winter escapade.
