Malaysia’s established Korean restaurant chain Sopoong is set to expand its footprint with the opening of its first outlet in JB this May 2026. The new location will be situated at Paradigm Mall Johor Bahru, joining other openings like Miniso and B.O.D 包栈.

The name “Sopoong” (소풍), which translates to “picnic” in Korean, reflects the brand’s concept of delivering casual, approachable Korean dining inspired by the communal experience of sharing food with family and friends.
The restaurant focuses on accessible Korean comfort food, offering a wide-ranging menu designed to cater to everyday dining occasions.

The Johor Bahru outlet will feature Sopoong’s signature selection of Korean fried chicken, including flavours such as Yang Nyeom Dakgangjeong, Soy Garlic Dakgangjeong, and Buldak Dakgangjeong, alongside options like the Creamy Onion Wing & Drummet Set.

In addition to its fried chicken offerings, the menu highlights a variety of traditional Korean stews and rice sets. Dishes such as Kimchi Jjigae Beef, Sundubu Jjigae Seafood, and Yukgaejang form part of the brand’s core lineup, delivering familiar, hearty flavours that are well-suited to a broad customer base.

The overall menu also includes Korean staples such as Bibimbap, Bulgogi, and Dakgalbi, as well as sharing-friendly items like Samgyetang and Jukkumi Bokkeum. Complementing these are a selection of snacks and side dishes, including Kimchijeon, Pajeon, Gimbap, and Mandu, which provide additional variety for both individual and group dining.

Carb-based options are similarly extensive, with offerings such as Kimchi Bokkeumbap, Haemul Fried Rice, and Bulgogi Fried Rice, alongside noodle dishes including Jajangmyeon, Japchae, and Bokkeum Udon. A range of Korean-inspired beverages, including sparkling fruit drinks in flavours such as melon, watermelon, strawberry, and grape, will also be available.
With pricing within the affordable segment, Sopoong’s opening at Paradigm Mall JB aims to attract a wide demographic, from casual diners to families and working professionals seeking convenient Korean cuisine in a mall setting.
