TTDI’s most beloved cafe Thursdvys to close doors on 13 March 2023

If you grew up in Kuala Lumpur and its surrounding areas, you’ve probably spent some time in the sunny neighbourhoods of Taman Tun Dr Ismail. This also means that you’ve most likely sipped an iced latte at Thursdvys on a calm Sunday morning with your friends.

Thursdvys opened its doors to the public 8 years ago and was one of the first few coffee spots to pioneer the cafe movement in KL. The cafe got its infamous stylised name from, ironically, the only day of the week they’re closed— Thursdays.

On 6 Mar, just 6 days before their permanent closure, Thursdvys took their Instagram page to announce their departure from KL’s cafe scene. “THE END OF AN ERA: Goodbye, but not forgotten”, written in their post, felt like a blow to the chest.

From being a gathering spot for KL’s youth, to also being frequented by families, Thursdvys has been a staple for TTDI residents for years. If you were to ask anyone for coffee shop suggestions in the area, Thursdvys would always be the first recommendation. It is reliable, familiar, and comforting. A visit to this cafe would guarantee you well-roasted coffee and delicious eats.

Thursdvys provides something that other places strive for: a sense of community. Many couples were brought together in this cosy shop, and many new friendships were formed. Not forgetting the numerous essays written and business meetings that have taken place here. Countless memories made, laughter shared, and cakes eaten.

Their final day of operation will be on 12 Mar 2023. Be sure to bid one final goodbye to their iconic orange spotlight wall.

To the crew behind Thursdvys, past and present, thank you for providing a welcoming space to KL’s coffee-loving crowd.
