Pies are seriously underrated as a snack in Singapore. You’ve probably heard of a million places to snag yourself some Instagram-hyped croissants or bomboloni but how often do you hear about pies? But if you’re a pie connoisseur, then you’d definitely be a religious follower of Windowsill Pies—Singapore’s very own pie extraordinaire.

Since starting out in 2011 from a humble shopfront in Jalan Besar then Haji Lane, Windowsill Pies have built up a legion of loyal fans throughout the years and eventually a pie empire. They’ve moved past the stage of eating humble pie and gone on to open their third outlet in Joo Chiat.

As we all know, Joo Chiat has emerged as a hotspot of sorts for trendy cafe openings in recent months. So it’s no surprise to see they decided to foray into the charmingly rustic neighbourhood.

With close proximity to East Coast Park and wildly popular pastry craftsmen such as Petit Pain, Windowsill Pies offers another great option that you can pack to a relaxing picnic by the sea.

While we argue virtually any slice of pie is a good slice of pie, this long-established establishment does have certain signatures that have gotten many people hooked and returning.

An ultra-classic choice at Windowsill Pies would be their eye-squintingly sour Morello Sour Cherry (S$7.80), perfect for fans of an exuberantly sour and fruity profile. But the Classic Pecan (S$7.30)? Yeah, you can’t go wrong with the most classic pie in any recipe book.

On the other hand, I enjoy my pastry with a nice injection of boozy joy so I recommend the Coconut Lime Vodka (S$7.30) and Banana Almond Brittle Cognac (S$6.80) for those that like a bit of buzz in their mouth.
