Yakult fans, brace yourselves for some good and bad news. The bad news: Yakult’s orange flavour will be discontinued from Jul. The good news? It’ll be replaced with a peach flavour!

The change was shared in a Straits Times article by Yakult Singapore’s managing director, Masaaki Sunami.
Mr Sunami said that the prebiotic drink brand had received multiple requests to include other Yakult flavours in Singapore, especially peach. However, due to production capacity constraints at its Singapore factory, they decided to discontinue the orange flavour at the end of Jun to roll out the peach flavour.

Yakult was established in Japan in 1935 and entered the Singapore market in 1979. Back then, the drink was only available in its original flavour, until Yakult introduced the grape, green apple and orange flavours in 1980.
Since then, Singapore has been the only country with different Yakult flavours until recent years, when new flavours were introduced to other markets. The peach flavour was introduced to China in 2024 and subsequently entered more countries, such as Brazil and Vietnam. Other flavours available overseas include muscat (green grape) and mango.
Mr Sunami mentioned that the original drink is the crowd favourite of Singaporeans, followed by the grape and green apple flavours. While my top pick is the original, I fondly remember the orange as my second favourite.
If you’re a fan of Yakult’s orange flavour, hurry down to your nearest supermarket to stock up on it! You only have a month to bid your favourite drink goodbye.
After you mourn the loss of the orange flavour, get ready to welcome the arrival of the peach drink. I heard that it’s popular in countries like China, so I’m excited to try it. Perhaps it’ll become my new favourite!
