In 2019, 8889 Chicken Hot Pot opened its flagship stall at Ang Mo Kio. As recent as 27 Dec this year, they have opened a 2nd outlet at 123 Yishun Street 11.
8889 Chicken Hot Pot was co-founded by Shirli and her husband. The original store at Ang Mo Kio saw success for being an affordable claypot hotpot eatery that uses fresh Kampung chicken. The starting price depended on which of the 7 different soup bases you ordered.
The Original is S$16.90 for 2 pax. It’s a non-spicy flavour using 8889 Chicken Hot Pot’s signature marination. Other soup bases, the other Classics, that started at S$16.90 were Mala, GongBao and Herbal. You could pick the spiciness level for the former two, ranging from 1 to 4.
These flavours would all also go for S$24.90 for 4 pax and S$34.90 for 6 pax.

8889 Chicken Hot Pot proclaims their must-try on their menu though, is their Drunken Soup Flavour (S$19.90 for 2 pax, S$29.90 for 4 pax, S$42.90 for 6 pax). Like the Original, it uses its signature marination but with an additional mixture of herbs, 3 different alcoholic beers and Chinese wine.
A first-timer who tried one of their classic soup bases has remarked that it was “very very gao”. Hearing this, it may come as a surprise to learn they do not use MSG.
A hot pot place can’t just exist with just soup. 8889 Chicken Hot Pot offers different sides ranging from S$2.50 to S$5.50, with the Mince Mushroom Chicken (S$4.50) being their highest recommendation.
To celebrate their branch’s opening, both outlets are holding a special promotion until 10 Jan. The more people you have in a group, the higher your discount. It starts at a 5% discount for 3 pax and can go up to a 20% discount for 6 pax. Please see their post for additional terms and conditions.
