Ola Beach Club-1

If you enjoy water sports such as paddle boarding or jetblading, or you simply want to have a relaxing day out on the beach with friends and food, Ola Beach Club is the one place in Sentosa that you should definitely check out.

Located on Siloso Beach, just five minutes away from the Beach Station, this place lets you to sit on the beach while having delicious Hawaiian-inspired dishes.

Ola Beach Club-2

Starting off with the Lomi Lomi Salmon ($16, $4 extra for caviar), which was a decent starter to kick-start the meal. The salmon paste was refreshing with a good hint of acidity and the chives gave the paste a nice crunch.

The sesame waffle was still crispy when left out for a bit, but I felt that the inclusion of momotaro tomatoes left the base of the waffle a little too moist.

The Kalua Pig Tacos ($18, $5 extra for fries and salad) were a pleasant surprise; I hadn’t expected it to be a hard shell taco, and it was served warm with a nice toasted exterior while breaking off easily.

The guacamole was fresh and paired nicely with the tender pork, while the smoky, salty cheese sealed off the dish with its stringy and delicious melted goodness.

It’s not Hawaiian-inspired food if there’s no poke bowl; the Ahi Poke ($20, $1 for additional sides, or for rice) was served in a huge wooden bowl and it took four people to be able to finish this.

I chose the kimchi marinade, and boy, it certainly gave the dish a whole new dimension. I also added ebiko, pumpkin seeds and cranberries, just so I can say that it was a healthy meal. Mix it up and have a go at it!

You mustn’t miss out on the Huli Huli Chicken ($20). With the chicken thigh prepared two ways, my favourite part of the dish was the pieces of chicken thigh glazed with teriyaki sauce, which was sweet and tender. The pieces of roasted chicken were tougher, but not too dry.

Paired with the sweet pumpkin puree, this dish was one of the winners for me.

Go for the Siloso First Light ($18), served in a cute orange cup! Made with tequila, pomegranate syrup and fruit juice, we agreed that this felt like a milder version of a Long Island Iced Tea, but sweeter and more citrusy.

Otherwise, the Ola Huli Pau! ($23) is the drink to order for an Instagram shot — look at that tiki glass along with the lychee boba pearls sitting atop a chocolate bowl sprayed in gold! Absolutely gorgeous, and easy to drink as well with the rum being subtle, along with faint hints of mint and watermelon.

It can be a hassle to find good food when you’re starving after a long day at the beach, so I think it’s great that beach-goers can enjoy a decent meal at Siloso Beach thanks to Ola Beach Club.

Expected damage: $20 – $40 per pax

A love for food and video games, combined with a lack of motivation to exercise, is probably the reason I'm slowly gaining weight.
