As much as I love bubble tea, I find many food creations inspired by the widely-loved drink to be questionable. But this time round, there’s a boba-inspired snack from Japan that actually seems promising.

7-Eleven Japan is selling a Daifuku (Milk Tea) snack for JP¥127. This mochi—that looks like a giant version of bubble tea pearls—comes filled with milk tea cream.

From the colour to the texture and transparency, the outer layer of the daifuku looks exactly like the iconic bubble tea pearl.

Reviews online have also said that the milk tea cream filling is smooth and not too heavy.

Not to burst your bubble, but unless you’re flying to Japan anytime soon, you probably won’t be able to get your hands on the milk tea daifuku in Singapore

Fret not though, because 7-Eleven Singapore has its own selection of bubble tea inspired items too, like their Brown Sugar Bubble Milk Drink and Peach Bubble Tea. You can also check out Blackball’s White Rabbit Candy soft serve with pearls, or the upcoming The Bubble Tea Factory pop up.

Know any friends who are heading to Japan? Maybe you can get them to bring home some milk tea daifuku from 7-Eleven for you!

Dates & Times: Now available in 7-Eleven Japan outlets

Prices: JP¥127 per item
