Rejoice! The day we’ve been waiting for has finally arrived—we are, once more, allowed to dine-in at F&B outlets, from 19 June 2020 onwards.
Yes, we’re officially moving into Phase 2 of Singapore’s safe reopening measures.
What does this mean for us?
Since SethLui.com is primarily a food publication, let’s look at what Phase 2 opens up, in terms of the F&B scene.
The biggest piece of news is, of course, the fact that we’re now allowed to dine-in at our favourite restaurants and eateries. Do note that tables must still be spaced one-metre apart, and there can only be a maximum of five persons allowed to sit together.
While you won’t be able to host dinner parties anytime soon, you can have a quick, intimate gathering with a small group of friends.
For those of us who enjoy a tipple or two with our meals, F&B outlets will have to stop liquor sales and consumption by 10.30pm—that means no raging parties, either. Also, note that live music, television and video screenings will not be allowed in F&B outlets for now.
Safe-distancing measures will still be in place, which means that crowds and queues are still discouraged. Resist, if you will, the urge to queue up for your favourite bubble tea store.
Small-group social gatherings of not more than five persons are allowed, and households can have up to five visitors at one time. Yes, this means you can have meet-ups with your friends—though try not to overdo it.
I have to say, it’s truly a happy day for F&B outlets and foodies alike. Do continue to stay safe, #StayHome as much as possible, and we’ll work together to survive amidst this COVID-19 pandemic!
