‘Tis the season for gift-giving very soon, and it seems the F&B scene keeps giving us reasons to empty our wallets with all the newest cafes popping up around the island. I honestly can’t keep up anymore, but I am happy to report that I’ve stumbled across a new entrant, Kevin Khoo Bistro at Shenton Way.

Sometimes tough times are really thrown at us to test our patience and resilience, and the folks behind Kevin Khoo Bistro have weathered the storm that is the COVID-19 pandemic. Started by ex-stewards and stewardesses from SIA, the bistro’s name is a cheeky prod at the term ‘cabin crew’. In fact, there’s a current promotion till the end of the year for anyone named ‘Kevin Khoo’—you’ll be entitled to a whopping 40% off your total bill!

Time to start finding new Kevin friends.

Their fare is labelled as casual Western and the prices for pasta go up to S$22, while other mains can go up to S$38no GST, although there is a service charge. How does a Kurobuta Pork Cubes Truffle Mushroom Cream Pasta (S$19) sound? Or even a Crispy Chicken Cutlet in Chardonnay Sauce (S$15, with two free sides)?

I don’t know about you but it’s about 2am as I’m furiously typing this out, and I could easily go for Kagoshima Butt Pull Pork Burger (S$14, with two free sides) with a side of Truffled Mashed Potato and Sauteed Mixed Mushrooms & Spinach.

More importantly, it’s heartening to see these former cabin crew mates rally together and not let this pandemic get the better of their career. Like we’ve been saying since the start of the year, we, as consumers also need to do our part and #supportlocal, so why not start here?

Date & Time: Kevin Khoo Bistro is now open | 11.30am – 10.30pm (Mon to Fri), 3pm – 10.30pm (Sat), Closed on Sun

Prices: From S$15 per pax
