Another day, another cafe opening. Jaded, I am not because another space means having to jostle with fewer people at popular joints such as Gather or the ever-popular Arabica. The Bravery is not exactly the new kid on the block. The Bravery has been a popular haunt along the street of Jalan Besar and attracted quite the cult following. The decision to relocate to the bustling streets of Amoy moving during a pandemic is no easy feat.

It seems like all that effort was well worth it, as the place looks fantastic. Decked out in powder-blue walls with tasteful rattan furniture—I’m dying to take a pan with my usual set of Instagram filters. I mean, you can never have too many #aesthetic shots of a pretty place.

It’s no secret that cafes are not known for having exceptional food, but that’s not the case at The Bravery. You can look forward to their assorted brownies from their Sea Salt (S$4.50) to Hazelnut (S$4.50), and if you are feeling cheeky, the Mars (S$4.50) is all but the salve to soothe. Of course, you look forward to the motley crew of brunch items such as The Frenchie (S$18), Nova Cheese Toast (S$16) which are sure to make Sundays feel even better.

The Bravery also has a pretty extensive Lunch and Dinner menu, so you can enjoy the vibes at The Bravery all day if you like. I’m particularly interested in the Cod en Papillote (S$30), where fish is cooked in a package of sorts. The result is an über tender fish, and you’ll always want fish prepared this way, after this.

When it comes to cafes, the drinks are sometimes everything. Nothing beats a Cold Brew White (S$7.50), an earthy Matcha Latte (S$6), and a calming Lavender Latte (S$6) to help settle you for the week ahead.

Whether you go for the food, the vibes, or the drinks, you know you’re in for a good time at The Bravery.
