One of the remarkable things about having Famous Amos in a mall is that you often smell it before you even see it. This time, it celebrates 47 years of doing so with the return of its Sea Salt Chocolate Cookies!

The Sea Salt Chocolate Cookies will be available from 18 to 31 Oct 2022 in all Famous Amos outlets and retails for S$19.90 per tub. Unlike your usual Famous Amos cookies, these are covered with chocolate and topped with sea salt.

Before attempting to even go and get myself one of these tubs, I made the wise decision of calling Famous Amos outlets near my location to check on their availability, and as predicted, they were pretty high in demand. Luckily, the outlet at JEM had many at hand.

I thought it was slightly disappointing that it was sold per tub and not according to its weight, as I would have liked to pair it with other cookies as well.

It managed to look very similar to how it was advertised. The outer layer was covered with just the right amount of chocolate, but I felt that the sea salt could have been sprinkled more evenly instead of just the center. It somehow retains the iconic Famous Amos cookie look too.

Just by looking at the tub, I’d estimate that you’ll get around 25 to 30 cookies, which is not a bad deal considering a tub will set you back almost S$20

The chocolate layer was sweeter than I had anticipated. Also, the cookie had chocolate bits inside it too, so the chocolate taste got a bit overwhelming after a couple of bites.

While the sea salt helped to cut through the thickness of the chocolate, it wasn’t spread out evenly enough, so I could only taste it after my second bite. The use of dark chocolate would have been just what the cookie needed. Oh well, nothing a glass of cold milk can’t fix!

Nevertheless, this is an appropriate celebration to Famous Amos, which delivers probably the most recognisable cookies on the island!
