There has been quite a number of cafe openings in recent times, but I haven’t seen one that exudes a comforting aesthetic like Ceres Haus does though.

The newest addition to Raffles Place, Ceres Haus can be found at Circular Road, which is a popular location to hit the cafes and bars for a good time after work. Whether it is to catch up with friends or clock in a short meeting, you’ll find many options in that area that’ll serve you just right.

Ceres Haus 1

Ceres Haus is a great in-between of coffees and night life, as it serves you an essential cup of coffee in the day, and a glass of wine in the evening.

They officially opened their space on 2 Mar 2023. Go up a flight of stairs and you’ll find Ceres Haus on the second floor of the shophouse that expands into a cosy space. Stretched along the corridor are 4 wooden tables that each take on a vital role in the preparation of orders. Like an open concept kitchen, you can see everything that goes on under their roof. One holds the coffee machine, one holds bottles of wine while the other 2 are for preparation of food. It’s all a very intimate experience.

The coffee offerings include classic coffee options such as a Flat White at S$5.50, and a Mocha at S$6. The choice to have it iced or with oat milk will cost an additional S$2.

Their food menu is quite minimal, but they do have a selection of light bites and bakes. From the Avo Sourdough (S$12) to Sweet (S$14) or Savoury Sourdough Toasts (S$18), their sourdoughs are very crispy on the outside. We opted to try the Savoury Sourdough Toasts, which was plated with champagne ham, homemade marmalade, sliced cheese and fresh cherry tomatoes.

Aside from munchies, you can have fresh bakes that variate from Marble Cakes (S$5) to Madeleines (S$6). The madeleines are freshly baked upon order, so be warned about the 15 minute wait time.

Aside from hot foods, they have quite a selection of wine, even in the day! Just request for the wine menu and have a luxurious time with a glass of wine with prices starting from S$16.

I love how the whole concept of Ceres Haus is done so intricately. Whether you’re down to have a glass on your own or with a partner, the minimally lit cafe/bar will set the mood for you.
