NUS kids will be thrilled to hear that a new Japanese food vendor has arrived in UTown. Otoko Ten Ten, which was formerly located in Punggol, has relocated to Flavours@UTown NUS near Kent Ridge MRT

Due to a slow walk-in crowd and limited kitchen space, the boss decided to make the move to boost business sales. Fans of their affordable Japanese offerings will just have to make that extra mile when cravings hit.

While the brand was focused on providing a wide array of raw seafood like sashimi and donburi at its Punggol outlet, the menu here at UTown has expanded to better cater to the crowd.

I was surprised to find such an extensive menu prepared by 38-year-old Chef David Wong at his one-man show. The options are simply limitless here, so there is definitely something for even the picky eaters!

Rest assured, their famed à la carte sashimi and sashimi donburi selections are still available at UTown. However, to keep prices low and affordable for students in the vicinity, the options do not encompass premium fish.

Most of the selections under the Sashimi Donburi with Soup (S$9.80 for all items) category use either salmon or tuna as its toppings in different variations. Regardless of either, rely on Chef David to provide only the freshest quality in his dishes.

Elegantly placed onto a warm bed of seasoned Japanese rice, the thick and fresh sashimi slices create a striking visual with its vibrant colours. To preserve the freshness and quality of the seafood, Chef David advises consumers to dig right into the dish.

We tried Singapore’s worst-rated Japanese food stall

To replicate the menu of a Japanese restaurant, the boss has introduced a range of items consisting of soup-based rice or noodles, grilled meat or fish and Japanese curry dishes.

I greatly admire the boss’ perseverance to bring forth high quality Japanese eats at affordable prices and cater them to the younger crowd. With this move, I hope that the efforts of Chef David do pay off soon!
