Just like our homes, markets and food centres around Singapore need thorough washing and cleaning for hygiene purposes. To save you from making a wasted trip to your favourite hawker centre, only to find out it’s closed for cleaning, I’ve compiled a list of markets and food centres scheduled for spring cleaning in July 2023; yes, you’re welcome.

10 Jul 2023:

10 to 11 Jul 2023:

I guess the nice uncle at Tong Siew Fried Rice (#01-23) cooking delicious and cheap plates of fried rice and hor fun can have a good rest.

17 Jul 2023:

• East Coast Lagoon Food Village (1220 East Coast Parkway)

If you’re anticipating a delightful hawker meal, BBQ satay, or a refreshing glass of sugarcane juice after your sports activities at East Coast Park, I’m afraid you’ll have to explore alternative options on this day.

17 to 19 Jul 2023:

• Circuit Road Market & Food Centre (80 Circuit Road)
• Golden Mile Food Centre (505 Beach Road)

24 to 25 Jul 2023:

• Toa Payoh Lorong 8 Market & Hawker Centre (210 Lor 8 Toa Payoh)

I’m bummed that during these 2 days, I’ll not be able to enjoy the delicious black carrot cake from Tian Tian Fa (#01-42) or the bowls of ban mian from Seletar Sheng Mian • Mee Hoon Kway (#01-05) which my colleagues, Chloe and Clare, love to queue up for.

31 Jul 2023:

• Dunman Food Centre (271 Onan Road)

Residents living near Katong and Joo Chiat who love patronising Dunman Duck Rice (#01-10) and Lau Hong Ser Rojak (#02-14), remember to avoid the last Monday of July.
