Madam Tang Kwok Wang has unfortunately passed away. She was born on 24 May 1944, and passed just 2 days after her 79th birthday.

On 30 May 2023, her muah chee stall took to its Instagram page to announce her passing. They wrote “Your support means the world to us, and we pledge to do our utmost to honor the legacy of our beloved Machi Queen, Madam Tang Kwok Wang”.
In the video posted, it can be seen that she was surrounded by her loved ones. Together, they drove down Petaling Street, which not only is where her business started and remains, but was also her birthplace.

Madam Tang Machi Popo has been operating for over 50 years now, drawing in locals and tourists alike for its muah chee. Ever since its inception, their sweet treats have always followed Madam Tang’s very own recipe. Although the stall is now helmed by generations below, they still use the original recipe to preserve the flavours and quality that many grew up with.
If you were fortunate enough to have visited the stall yourself, you might have seen her passionately preparing boxes of muah chee for customers, donning her signature striped apron.
With her decades of experience running a business, the stall has found success through their delicious gelatinous treats by continuously innovating while still staying true to its roots. Other than the original muah chee flavour, they also offer flavours like pandan, Ribena, black sesame, mango, and lychee.

While their main outlet is in Chinatown, they’ve also set up pop up booths in the past. This allowed for even more Malaysians to get a taste of their chewy desserts.
Don’t forget to show your support by visiting the stall when you’re in the area. We send our deepest condolences to Madam Tang’s family and friends.
