After the successful venture into the hawker stall business with Masala Canteen at Beo Crescent Market, PASIRPANJANGBOY (the owners) have expanded. They now have a new establishment called Masala Curry Mee at Havelock Road Cooked Food Centre, specialising in Malaysian-style curry mee.

Having operated private dining for over 25 years, Chef Tinoq has made his mark across various Asian countries like Japan and Hong Kong. Inspired by his mother, he decided to fulfill his dream of opening a hawker stall. Dedicated to serving delicious, down-to-earth dishes to the neighbourhood after a busy day, Chef Tinoq said, “It’s about the warmth of being served hot food when you’re hungry and exhausted from work”.

Compared to exclusive private dining, the hawker stall evokes the lively bustle of daily life, making diners feel as though they’re enjoying home-cooked meals.

The eatery offers its signature Curry Mee at S$6. The light orange soup has a smooth, runny texture, giving the dish a light profile, especially with the addition of mint leaves and basil leaves. Beneath the flavourful broth are handmade chicken char siew, bean sprouts, egg, Japanese taupok (inspired by one of his private dining trips to Japan), and half a calamansi, creating a truly satisfying bowl!

Another specialty here is the Rara! Mee, priced similarly at S$6. It features ingredients like prawns, bean sprouts, kang kung, chives, and egg, all immersed in the flavourful soup.

A special shout-out to the premium prawn paste used in most of their dishes— it’s handcrafted by the chef with care. If you notice, the dishes are also pork-free, mindful of Muslim friends who wish to try them. As Chef Tinoq rightly says, food brings us together.
